Choosing a Digital Booth
What makes a booth “digital”?
The difference is where the photo goes, not how it is taken. A digital booth delivers straight to the guest's phone — by text, email or AirDrop — instead of, or as well as, handing them a printed strip. That changes what the booth is for. Photos leave the room while the event is still happening, which is the point for brand activations and corporate events where reach matters more than a keepsake. It also opens up formats a printer cannot produce: GIFs, boomerangs, video messages and green-screen backgrounds. If what you want is something guests carry home in their hand, a print booth is still the better answer, and plenty of our clients run both at the same event.
When is digital the better choice?
Three situations make the decision easy. First, when sharing is the goal: if you want photos on social feeds the same night with your branding on them, digital does that and print does not. Second, when you are capturing data — digital delivery means guests provide a phone number or email, so the booth becomes a lead-capture point as well as entertainment, which is usually why corporate teams choose it. Third, when the room does not suit a printer: tight spaces, outdoor events and roaming setups all work better without a print station anchoring the booth to one spot. Weddings more often want prints, though the two are not mutually exclusive.
Can a digital booth work for a remote or hybrid event?
Yes — that is what the virtual booth is for. Guests use their own device rather than shared hardware, which means people joining from elsewhere take part in the same activity as the people in the room, with the same overlays and branding applied to their photos. It suits hybrid conferences, distributed teams and campaigns that run longer than a single evening, since there is no physical booth to pack down at the end of the night. It is a genuinely different product from an in-room booth rather than a substitute for one, so it is worth telling us which parts of your audience are remote when you ask.
